Kathy's Firefly Browncoat

Kathy in her Browncoat
For her birthday, I commissioned to have a Browncoat made for my wife. One of my crit partners with Elysian Fields creates/sews outfits and costumes for various historical periods. When I contacted Anita about the possibility of taking on the project, she looked into it and said she could do it.

After studying pictures and video sequences were Mal is wearing his Browncoat, Anita was able to get the design into a pattern. All I had to do was send the required measurements.

The leather's color isn't a 100% on match, and the clasps are not the same as those on Mal's coat, but everything else is right on target.

My wife really enjoys wearing it and I think she looks pretty sharp in it too (shiny). One of her friends who is a fan of the Firefly series said Kathy needs to get a set of suspenders next.

If you have an interest in getting a Browncoat made, contact me via my website (HERE) and I'll put you in touch with Anita.

Ohioana Book Festival 2013: I'll be There!

I have once again been invited to be a participating author at the Ohioana Book Festival, scheduled for Saturday, May 11th. from 10:00 am to  4:30 pm.

Once again it will be held at the:
Fort Hayes Metropolitan Education Center
546 Jack Gibbs Blvd.
Columbus, OH 43215

It's an event I've really enjoyed in the past--meeting readers and other Ohio authors. My most recent release (through Gryphonwood Press), Genre Shotgun made the cut. But both of my other novels, Flank Hawk and Blood Sword, will be available at the book festival as well.

I'll post more information as it becomes available.

Andreas Katsulas (G'Kar of Babylon 5)

Those who've known me for a while know I am a fan of Babylon 5. I enjoyed both the storyline and characters. The special effects weren't bad for television either.

G'Kar and Londo
Although my favorite characters included Michael Garibaldi, Londo Mollari and Lyta Alexander, the character that I think really made the show was G'Kar, especially with the backdrop of the relationship that began, crumbled and then rebuilt between the Narn, G'Kar and the  Centauri, Londo Mollari.

Okay, I liked the alien Zathras too, but that's fodder for another post.

In any case, below is a tribute that I came across several years agoto Andreas Katsulas who played G'Kar. I think that you'll find some depth of ideas and philosophy in what's presented.

I'll probably post a bit more on Babylone 5 in the next few months. If you've not seen the series and you get the chance, give it a try.
