Local Adventure: The Ohio Caverns

Often one doesn’t need to travel far to find interesting little adventures. One that’s not too far away from where I live is The Ohio Caverns.

It’s a neat little tour that takes just under an hour. Since it’s underground, any time of the year is perfect. I took my two daughters one afternoon a few weeks back. It was the first time for my youngest, and both had a great time.

Don’t hesitate to look around where you live and uncover those great little adventures. Oh, and for the writers out there, great fodder for ideas and settings.

  1. Sometimes we need to re-stimulate our imaginations, and get away from our computer, even our house.

A while back, we went to visit the caves in Kentucky, on our way to Alabama. I wish I had a camera back then. It was a sight to see.

  2. With digital cameras, it's easier than it used to be, and less expensive to get those pictures.

  3. You never know what you will find around home. The Ohio Caverns is truly beautiful. Lots of stairs at the end, though nothing like the stairs to get back out of Mammouth Caves. I remember looking up and thinking, "I wonder if they would really mind if I just camped out down here."

  4. Never been to Mammouth Caves. The most steps I ever took was at the Washington Monument many years ago, but that was going down and not up.
