2015 Ohioana Book Festival Follow Up

`
Enjoyed a great Saturday at the 2015 Ohioana Book Festival. It was held at a different, more expansive venue, which benefited both visitors/customers and authors.

I shared a table with Brian McClellan, a pretty sharp fellow who writes 'Flintlock Fiction'. I met plenty of readers, signed a few books, and enjoyed particpating as a panelist.

The reception at the Governor's Mansion was a little chilly as the event was under a tent outside, but there were heaters and good conversation to match the food.

Below are a few pics with captions.

Article: Why Some Scientists think Pluto Should Be a Planet Again

`
I never really agreed with the demotion of Pluto to a 'dwarf' planet back in 2006. It felt to me that the astrophysicists and astronomers and such were in need of something to do, and interested in making news.

I found this article interesting, especially reasserting that Pluto has objects orbiting it and is layered/structured much like Earth.

Holding my breath, waiting for a reversion any time soon, would be foolish. But I suspect in a decade or so, those that decided upon the demotion will reinstate Pluto to full 'planethood." It'll be something to do and will make the news.

We'll see.

Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast with Bill Mumy

I stumbled across this podcast while searching for something to listen to while doing some mundane grading. It turned out to be an extremely interesting interview.

Gilbert Godfrey is himself, but is overshadowed in the discussion he has with Billy Mumy, where he discusses his experiences with directors, fellow actors and some interesting anecdotes throughout his career, from the Twilight Zones and Lost in Space to Babylon 5 and more.

I might try a few more of the interviews (this was #41), but it'd be hard to top, at least in my estimation.

Hey Folks,

A short while back I spent a little time with Sue from Around About Books for her program, Bookends.

I had a great time as we talked about science fiction and fantasy, writing, publishing and more. Click on over and even see me search several times for a word or two. :)
