A Busy Weekend: Blood Sword and Relic Tech Audio Proofing

`
Initial plans had me out of town (in Columbus) on Saturday (today), but the nasty weather (sub-zero, 25 mph winds, 5 inches of snow, etc.) sort of changed that.

A good thing, overall, as I received in my Drop Box last night the recorded version of Blood Sword for me to proof. Add to that four chapters of Relic Tech to proof that showed up this morning. You might guess that Michael Slusser prefers to send over an entire novel, while Jim Conlan prefers chapter by chapter. I know what I'll be doing a lot of this weekend.

Will be putting the third draft edit/revision of Soul Forge aside for a short time.

  1. Looking forward to both of those hitting audible. Probably smart to stay home today, it was nasty here in Columbus.

    1. Yes, staying home was a good move. Spent a good part of the day shoveling the snow and watching the wind later blow it back. I think you'll enjoy both of the audiobooks when they're released. The narrators are doing excellent jobs.

  3. What does proofing an audio file entail? Making sure the names are pronounced right?

    1. Charlie, there is some of that, with names, and such, especially with SF and Fantasy, but there are rare occasions where a word or phrase is omitted and such. Less often than in print, but it still happens. Little things, that with time and attention by a first listener (me) can be easily corrected.

If you have an experienced narrator, there are less concerns, and if it a narrator doing the second or third novel in a series, even fewer concerns.

  4. Called in sick to work and finished Blood Sword. Amazing story, any chance on more Flank Hawk stories?

    1. I am working on Soul Forge, and it should be released this spring. Hope you're feeling better, and thanks for reading and taking a moment to comment.
